Interested in joining the HYO in the fall for the 2024-2025 Season? Consider attending our week long Tennessee Valley Music Festival. It is a great way to be introduced to the HYO and prepare for joining in the Fall!

2023-2024 Orchestras & Tuition Fees

The Huntsville Youth Orchestra offers six levels of musical opportunities with strings classes ranging from beginner to very advanced, and ensembles for wind and percussion students with as little as a year of playing experience to very advanced full orchestra. Click below for more details about each orchestra and their conductors.

Novice Strings - $335

For beginners, age 7-10, who wish to learn the violin, viola, cello, or bass.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm

Intermezzo Orchestra - $355

For intermediate string players with 1-2 years of experience.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays 5-6pm

Concert Orchestra - $395

For intermediate level string players with at least 2-3 years of experience.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays 6:10-7:25pm

Philharmonia - $460

For intermediate plus level string players with at least 2-3 years of playing experience. Audition required.

Rehearsals: Tuesdays 5:45-7pm

Sinfonia - $475

For advanced string players, wind, and percussion players with at least 2-3 years of playing experience. Audition required.

Rehearsals: Mondays 5:30-6:45pm

Huntsville Youth Symphony - $490

For advanced string, wind, and percussion players. Audition required.


Rehearsals: Mondays 7-9pm

The Huntsville Youth Orchestra is a tremendously valuable and rewarding program for all students. We work to keep costs as low as possible but understand that it may still be out of reach for some. If you are in need of financial assistance toward tuition fees, please complete the financial aid form below and email to hyo.exdir@gmail.com one week prior to the first rehearsal. Financial aid must be applied for before registering and paying the tuition fee. If you receive financial aid, a discount code will be provided to use on the registration form covering the awarded amount.

FAQs

  • Registration for each season opens in early July for non-auditioned ensembles and after audition results are released for auditioned ensembles.

  • Tuition is paid through the registration form. If you are unable to pay through the form, please contact hyo.exdir@gmail.com.

  • Yes, HYO families enrolling more than one child in the HYO receive $45 off tuition for each additional child. There is also financial aid available. Please contact hyo.exdir@gmail.com for discount or financial aid codes before completing registration.

  • Yes! We accept new students at any point in the season and pro-rate the tuition fee. We do ask that new students wait to begin at the start of a new concert cycle.
